Similarly, he leverages his considerable expertise in church leadership as the Clerk for the North Carolina Fellowship of Friends (Quakers). He has served as a pastor since 2001 and is currently the pastor of Somerton Friends Meeting. Over the years, Dr. Wilcox also gained valuable expertise in the finance industry as an investment services specialist and teller supervisor for Southern Bank and Trust Company. Dr. Wilcox earned a Bachelor of Science in finance from Minnesota State University, Moorhead in 1998. Subsequently, he expanded his professional knowledge, earning a Master of Divinity and a Doctor of Ministry in church leadership from the Methodist Theological School in Ohio. In conjunction with his work, he contributes to his community as a board member of the Coalition Against Poverty in Suffolk. Over the years he has served on a number of non-profit boards including the Perquimans County Council on Education, North Carolina Fellowship of Friends Faith and Practice Committee, Methodist Theological School in Ohio Board of Trustees, Methodist Theological School in Ohio Faculty Council, Boy Scouts of America Troop #322 Council, Perham Area Food Shelf Board, and the Minnesota Annual Conference UMC Finance Committee.
Outside of his professional life, Mr. Wilcox fosters a passion for genealogy and has recently written Searching for James Gibson: Unraveling a Two-Century-Old Family Legend. Though hard work and dedication have brought him far in his career, he credits his success to his strong relationship with Osaic Institutions and Southern Bank and Trust Company. In the coming years, Dr. Wilcox intends to increase his financial planning business, serve Somerton Friends, and publish his genealogical research.
