CEDAR BLUFF, VA, February 05, 2024 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Regina Sayers has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Representing Appalachian Agency for Senior Citizens (AASC) Inc. for over a decade, Ms. Sayers began her career in 2010 as an executive director and chief executive officer. In 2022, she transitioned into the role of a consultant.
The AASC is notably a nonprofit organization based in Cedar Bluff, Virginia, that provides information and services for older adults residing in Buchanan, Dickenson, Russell, and Tazewell counties. It is one of the state's Agencies on Aging, elected by the Virginia Department for the Aging to nurture older residents' independence and dignity.
Since joining AASC, Ms. Sayers has been instrumental in transforming the organization's social model into a solid business model. During her tenure, the organization also received a Health Equity Award in 2021 for developing a non-emergency medical transportation program for the community. She had been responsible for developing the program, which was very much needed in the district, and it involved escorting individuals for their checkup appointments at their physician offices.
During an earlier stage of her career, Ms. Sayers was a medical technologist and administrative director for a local laboratory. She also worked in physician practice management.
A leader in her community, Ms. Sayers has been serving as the president of the Tazewell County Chamber of Commerce since 2019 and as an appointed member of the Tazewell County Industrial Development Authority since 2023. She has also been affiliated with the Southwest Virginia Health Authority Board and One Care of Southwest Virginia. She has future plans to volunteer with the board of Time Out Youth. Ms. Sayers aims to continue serving as a productive member of the community, instilling value and confidence in women and the youth that they can achieve anything in life with the proper guidance and support.
Ms. Sayers graduated with a Bachelor of Science in human resources management and services from Bluefield University in 1992. She subsequently earned a Master of Science in Management with an emphasis in health care administration from Marshall University in 1997.
In light of her professional success, Ms. Sayers and the AASC staff received a Virginia Governor's Housing Award for Best Affordable Housing Development for a Senior Living Community in 2019. She was also recognized as the Runner Up for the John A. Hartford Foundation Business Innovation Award and won the Excellence in Leadership Award from the National Association of Area Agencies on Aging in 2019. Ms. Sayers attributes her success to the excellent role models and supportive people in her life.
