Ms. Perlman started her career with Sterling Winthrop Inc., a pharmaceuticals, diagnostic imaging and consumer health products company, and a subsidiary of Eastman Kodak. Ms. Perlman held leadership positions in marketing, new product development and communications, ultimately becoming Vice President, Global Communications, reporting to the President and CEO in 1990. During her tenure, she helped lead the communications effort and the successful launch of Sanofi Winthrop, the new corporate identity for Sterling's alliance with the French pharmaceutical company, Sanofi S.A. At the time, this alliance was regarded as a merger of equals, effectively doubling the R&D effort, providing critical mass, and catapulting the combined business into the top tier of the industry. Ms. Perlman was a member of PhRMA (Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America), and a founding member of HINJ (HealthCare Institute of New Jersey).
Following the divestiture of Sterling Winthrop, Inc. by Eastman Kodak in 1994, she became vice president of corporate communications for Nycomed Imaging, Inc., the U.S. subsidiary of the Norwegian based company that acquired the former diagnostics business from Sterling Winthrop, Inc. In 1996, Ms. Perlman became vice president of corporate communications and public affairs for the United States when Nycomed Imaging was acquired by UK-based Amersham PLC. She continued through the transition to Amersham Health and became global vice president of corporate communications in 2001, reporting to the CEO. Ms. Perlman remained with Amersham Health through the company's acquisition by GE in 2004, serving as United States corporate communications lead. Ms. Perlman continued to excel in executive communications roles throughout the 2000s, serving as an independent corporate communications strategist. In 2006, Ms. Perlman was appointed to the position of Senior Vice President in Global Healthcare at MSL; a full-service, global public relations firm and a member of The Publicis Groupe. In addition to account management and business development, she provided crisis and issues counsel for MSL clients.
From 2011 until 2016, Ms. Perlman was with Continuum Solutions, Ltd., where she provided communications counsel and image building strategies for emerging companies, including early-stage IPO. Ms. Perlman also developed crisis management and crisis communications plans and implemented crisis preparedness exercises and media training for Continuum Solutions' clients.
In March 2016, Continuum Solutions, Ltd. was acquired by Arthur J. Gallagher & Co., one of the world's largest insurance brokerage, risk management and consulting firms. Ms. Perlman serves as an independent consultant to Gallagher on Crisis and Risk Management, Crisis Communications and Preparedness training/exercising.
Following Continuum Solutions Ltd, Ms. Perlman founded Aegis Crisis Management, to offer clients a comprehensive portfolio of risk assessment, risk management, and crisis management solutions, with a focus on maintaining stakeholder relationships, brand narratives, and brand integrity. She emphasizes the need for crisis training, advance preparation, and agile responses for optimal recovery to unexpected business challenges and has worked closely with chief executive officers at several companies to create comprehensive strategies for growth and constructive change management. Having launched AEGIS during a tumultuous time, Ms. Perlman was at the forefront in establishing crisis protocols for companies impacted by COVID-19.
Throughout her career, Ms. Perlman has been recognized for her industry expertise and unique approach to communications with numerous awards and accolades, including inclusion in Outstanding Young Women in America, and a 1988 Gold Effie Award, for a creative campaign that increased sales by 164%. Ms. Perlman was voted Marketing Manager of the year by the company's sales force, marking the first time this award was ever granted.
Ms. Perlman is a mentor to many young women about to enter the workplace as well as those who are seeking advice on advancement in their career. She was on the board of Parkinson's Unity Walk, the largest grassroots event in the United States that raises funds for the development of new treatments for Parkinson's Disease. Ms. Perlman is also an advisor to the Parkinson Alliance board of directors. The Unity Walk is now part of the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research. Ms. Perlman was also on the board of NYC PIA, (Parents in Action), a non-profit organization committed to providing education, information, and a communication network to inform parents about social and developmental issues. Ms. Perlman is also a member of the Public Relations Society of America.
