ROCKWALL, TX, February 07, 2024 /24-7PressRelease/ -- LaVita D. R. Jones has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
With more than three decades of excellence to her credit in treating clients with trauma, Ms. Jones has earned distinction as a psychotherapist with Alpha Omega Counseling and Consulting Services, PLLC. Since 2021, she has focused her efforts on working with clients – primarily adolescents and adults – who suffer from traumas that stem from racial and social injustice, childhood abuse, domestic violence, and narcissistic abusive relationships. As the sole proprietor of her private practice, she serves the needs of her clients and patients daily while also working to dispel the myths that "time heals all wounds" and "he hits you because he loves you." Ms. Jones likens trauma to a festering wound that, when untreated by the healing process of therapy, deteriorates the emotional and mental well-being of an individual. Ms. Jones views her work in direct care as a calling. She remains dedicated to helping patients overcome their challenges and emerge with a renewed commitment to balance, transformation, and wellness in their lives.
Before her current role, Ms. Jones worked at Beacon Health Options Inc. from 2000 until 2020. Rising from a clinical care manager to an associate manager of behavioral health clinical services, she helped to ensure the optimal flow of on-site operations. She conducted hiring and training sessions for new staff in her last role at the organization. Previously, she served as a care manager at Magellan Behavioral Health, the acting executive director of Our Brother's Keeper - NDUGU Inc., and a case manager specialist at Dallas Challenge Inc., beginning her career in 1993. During her career, Ms. Jones is most proud to have worked closely with at-risk youth to redirect the trajectory of their lives and prevent them from entering the criminal justice system or cycling in and out of substance abuse treatment.
Well-regarded for her expansive knowledge of effective psychotherapeutic modalities, Ms. Jones has been invited to present seminars, workshops, and mentoring programs for several organizations. Likewise dedicated to civic advocacy, she has served as a foreign missionary and team leader for United MegaCare. This charitable organization collaborates with The Potter's House, a nondenominational, multicultural church. In this role, Ms. Jones has supported sustainable community development efforts in Cambodia, Kenya, Egypt, the Dominican Republic, and Ethiopia. For this and other such accomplishments, she was awarded two Presidential Pins for Humanitarian Volunteerism in 2013 and 2014 and a Certificate of Humanitarian Volunteerism in 2012.
Before embarking on her professional journey, Ms. Jones earned a Bachelor of Arts in social work at LeMoyne-Owen College of Memphis in 1993 – during her studies there, she was notably hailed as an All-American Scholar, on the National Dean's List, and a Dean's Scholar. She also served as president of her local chapter of Alpha Kappa Mu, president of the Social Work Club, Basileus of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. - Alpha Omicron Chapter. She earned distinction in Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities. Ms. Jones studied social work administration at the University of Texas at Arlington, from which she earned a Master of Science in Social Work in 1997. Well-qualified in her field, she is a licensed clinical social worker and clinical supervisor, certified advanced grief counseling specialist, and a certified clinical trauma professional level II. She is licensed in California, Florida, and Texas, with New York pending.
Looking toward the future, Ms. Jones intends to transition into teaching, consulting, and coaching to train social workers and licensed professional counselors as a clinical supervisor and professor while also engaging in public speaking engagements. Ms. Jones has received numerous requests and encouragement to speak publicly, which has motivated her to position herself in the video, podcasting, and social media space to reach and help more individuals. Ultimately, she takes great pride in her longevity within the field and the transformative results she has achieved with her clients over the years.
