Well regarded for his expertise producing both leather goods and meads, Mr. Sigler is recognized as the owner of Wyrd (pronounced "weird") Leatherworks and Meadery. Located in the historic Woodstock neighborhood of Portland, Oregon, the business strives to provide quality, handmade leather goods and delicious home-brewed mead to its customers. Travis started Wyrd Leatherworks and Meadery with his best friend Tayler Toll in 2017, and the two began crafting mead in Tayler's closet.
Mr. Sigler has always loved medieval fantasy, such as Lord of the Rings, Beowulf, and other works. In fact, he grew up reading books that referenced mead, a type of wine made from honey instead of grapes, which has been made for thousands of years and has played a pivotal role in storytelling and history. Over time, Mr. Sigler developed a passion for leatherwork and began exploring the cosplay world, creating armor pieces for himself and his friends. In 2017, Mr. Sigler and his friend, Tayler Toll, began brewing mead.
Combining these two interests, Mr. Sigler decided to start a business for people who want to take a break from reality and escape into a different world. Today, the Wyrd space includes a hall where customers can drink mead by the glass and consume light food items fitting the meadery's theme.
Prior to opening Wyrd Leatherworks and Meadery, Mr. Sigler worked in the shipping department of Dark Horse Comics for seven years. In the coming decade, he looks forward to purchasing land to move their fermenting warehouse, a step that would allow him to increase his production tenfold.
