Anthony Malczanek, PhD, has been Inducted into the Prestigious Marquis Who's Who Biographical Registry

Anthony Malczanek is recognized for his expertise in computerized industrial automation as well as in the field of convergent multiservice networks



Dr. Malczanek has earned distinction as an adjunct professor with the University of Maryland Global Campus.

    VENICE, FL, February 08, 2024 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Anthony Malczanek, PhD, has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Leveraging over four decades of excellence in system analysis and design, telecommunications and industrial automation, Dr. Malczanek has earned distinction as an adjunct professor with the University of Maryland Global Campus. Since 2016, he has focused his efforts on teaching courses on system analysis, fundamentals of telecommunications and graduate-level management information systems.

He has also conducted as project lead, a wealth of confidential research for the U.S. Army in software-designed networks. In recognition of his dedicated service, he was honored with a Civilian Service Achievement Medal from the United States Army. He also received a citation from the Governor of Maryland for his outstanding professional service.

Dr. Malczanek began his career in 1980 as a research scientist at the Research Institute for Industrial Automation in Bucharest, Romania. He continued as an automation project manager with ATI Industrial Automation in 1992 and was promoted to a network manager in 1995, managing an engineering team to design, install, update, maintain and troubleshoot PC Windows NT/95 based LAN. While at ATI, in 1995 he became co-author to a patented invention of a fully automated packaging line for granular products, optimizing its functionalities based on an implemented fuzzy system. He became a senior engineering analyst at BELLCORE/Telcordia in 1996, also serving as an adjunct professor with Baruch College from 1998 until 2001. In 2000, he was senior systems engineer with Lucent Technologies/Bell Labs, working on the fine-tuning of services in a VoIP network. In 2001 he became a senior network quality assurance consultant with AT&T Labs, working primarily on the implementation of VoIP technologies at company level, more precisely in the authentication and authorization interface, stress testing the web server and studying scalability issues regarding their service activation system.

Dr. Malczanek continued his career from 2005 as a quality assurance manager with Lumeta Corporation, a network security company. He was also teaching at Rutgers University and CUNY- College of Staten Island. Between 2003-2010 he also lent his expertise as an adjunct professor for DeVry University.

Between 2007 and 2021 he worked as a senior computer scientist for U.S. Army Communications Electronics Command - Software Engineering Center, leading several telecommunication projects.

Prior to embarking on his professional journey, Dr. Malczanek earned a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and a Master of Science in Informatics, both from the University of Cluj in Romania. He continued his studies at the City University of New York, Graduate Center where he attained a Master of Philosophy in Computer Science in 1998. He subsequently gained a Doctor of Philosophy in Computer Science from the same institution in 2000. His 405-page thesis was an in-depth analysis of wireless multiservice networks and has been referenced and praised by the vice president of Bell Labs, Dr. Victor Lawrence, member of the US Academy of Engineering, who emphasized the uniqueness and scientific value of the research.

Over the years, he coaching and tutored high school students from disadvantaged families through the icouldbe.org website, judged for junior robotics competitions (through cooperation between DoD-ATEC and the Maryland Department of Education) between January 2018 and April 2021 as well as for the Junior STEM competition since March 2018. Dr. Malczanek also tutored ROTC students for the ASVAB test.

Dr. Malczanek retired from DoD in 2021 but continues teaching part-time as an adjunct professor at University of Maryland-Global Campus and his main goal is to share his in-depth knowledge with generations of students who take the courses he teaches. His main hobby is traveling; he has visited all 50 U.S. states as well as 64 countries on 5 continents.
