Having previously led a long and distinguished career with the Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS), Mr. Walton was a supervisory special agent from 1981 to 2010. As an employee of the U.S. government, he was responsible for conducting major felony criminal investigations as well as counterintelligence and combating terrorism operations. He rose through the ranks to senior management positions at NCIS Headquarters, the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for C3I, the National Counterintelligence Center, and the Office of the National Counterintelligence Executive.
Prior to his NCIS career, Mr. Walton responded to his nation's call for service and served combat duty with the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. After the war, he transitioned into U.S. Naval aviation, and became a successful powerplant mechanic and turn-up operator for A-4 attack jets and S-2 anti-submarine warfare aircraft.
Following his NCIS career and prior to founding Sunbrook Publishing, Mr. Walton also garnered recognition with CDE Consulting for several years. Spending time overseas, he evaluated the U.S. Department of Defense's school system and made significant changes to make it much more difficult for terrorist groups to set up attacks on defenseless school children.
Mr. Walton remains active by making himself available for speaking engagements, either for in-person presentations or for radio and television appearances. His expertise lies in over three decades of briefing military and civilian leaders at every level on national security and federal law enforcement issues. Additionally, Mr. Walton provides consulting services to individuals who feel physically at risk.
Adamant about giving back, Mr. Walton has been affiliated with several nonprofits, including Somebody Cares Saint Augustine. He also served as a guardian ad litem and as a team leader for CareFest Charity events for over five years.
Mr. Walton graduated from West Chester University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Science in criminal justice and law enforcement at the top of his graduating class in 1979. He was also inducted into the Pi Gamma Mu Honor Society. Mr. Walton also graduated from the National Speakers Academy in Central Florida and garnered certification in 2020.
Affiliated with several industry-related organizations in support of his career, Mr. Walton is presently active as a member of the Florida Writers Association, the Florida Authors and Publishers Association, and the Independent Book Publishers Association.
Mr. Walton received many accolades from the U.S. government for his investigations and operations. He was recognized with an Exceptional Service in the Public Interest Award from Former FBI Director Robert Mueller in 2010. He also received the Operator of the Year Award from the U.S. Department of Defense for Counterintelligence Operations, received a U.S. Navy Meritorious Commendation Medal for organizing a NCIS team in Kosovo and Albania, and was named as an Honor Agent by the Naval Criminal Investigative Service as the number one graduate from the Agents Basic Training Academy. Upon his retirement from NCIS, he was awarded the NCIS Career Counterintelligence Achievement Award. Mr. Walton credits much of his professional success to his faith in God.
