Her expertise includes AI and data governance, policy, intellectual property, privacy, transactions, and other regulatory and corporate matters. She was previously a partner at the global law firm Covington & Burling LLP, where she co-led the firm's global and multi-disciplinary AI Initiative and counselled organizations on a broad range of corporate, policy, intellectual property, governance, and other matters.
Ms. Tiedrich currently holds three appointments at Duke University, including Distinguished Faculty Fellow in Law and Responsible Technology, Executive in Residence, and Responsible Technology Scholar in AI Health. At Duke, her work includes designing and teaching an innovative multi-disciplinary course that draws together graduate students from across the university to work on real world responsible technology projects with outside organizations, such as the OECD, Thomson Reuters, Northrop Grumman, and Truveta. This course prepares students to address emerging tech challenges in multi-disciplinary teams.

Ms. Tiedrich graduated from the University of Pennsylvania Law School and earned a B.S.E. in electrical engineering from Duke University, with both Phi Beta Kappa and Tau Beta Pi honors. Prior to joining the Duke faculty, she chaired the Strategy Committee of the Duke Engineering School Board of Visitors, was an adjunct faculty member at the University of Pennsylvania Law School, and served on the Biden Campaign Policy Committee.
Ms. Tiedrich also is a champion and pioneer for diversity, equity, and inclusion. She was among the few women graduating Duke in 1988 majoring in electrical engineering. She was the 22nd woman elected to the Covington partnership and was appointed the founding Chair of the firm's Women's Forum. She later co-chaired the firm's Diversity Committee. Ms. Tiedrich received a Women Innovators Award from Duke University in 2023 and has served on Duke's Women's Impact Network Leadership Council.
Other boards and committees have also turned to Ms. Tiedrich for her advice and perspectives. She is a former board member for the Center for WorkLife Law at the University of California College of the Law, San Francisco, and served on the Dean's Council for Penn Law Women at the University of Pennsylvania.
