Driven by a love of aviation and education, Ms. Gurry established Aviaspire, LLC. As the owner, instructor, and pilot, she oversees flight instruction and FAA certificate processing. Previously, she worked as the airport director for the City of Enid and dedicated herself to her country through the U.S. Air Force. Over the years, she has served in various roles, including a T-37 instructor pilot at Columbus Air Force Base, a C-17 pilot at McChord Air Force Base, and an airlift officer in Poggio Renatico, Italy. Likewise, she gained valuable expertise in aviation as the chief of AIRCOM's Airlift Coordination Centre, chief of wing safety for Vance Air Force Base, and commander of the 8th Flying Training Squadron.
An expert in her field, Ms. Gurry holds a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from Wilkes University. Subsequently, she expanded her professional knowledge by completing an MBA in general management from TUI University and a master's degree in Military Operational Art and Science from Air Command and Staff College. Driven to remain abreast of changes in the field, Ms. Gurry aligns herself with the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, the Airlift Tanker Association, the Experimental Aircraft Association, The Ninety-Nines International Organization of Women Pilots, and the Oklahoma Space Industry Development Authority through which she has served as secretary and treasurer.
In conjunction with her work, Ms. Gurry contributes to her community by donating to various organizations and volunteering with Oklahoma Women in Aviation. For her professional achievements, she has been consistently honored throughout her career in the U.S. military, in addition to earning several Air Medals, a Meritorious Service Medal, and the Defense Meritorious Service Medal. For her hard work and dedication to aviation, the Oklahoma Department of Aerospace and Aeronautics presented her with the very first Geraldyn M. Cobb Military Aviation Distinguished Service Award. While her career has been filled with highlights, she is proud of becoming a squadron commander in the Air Force. Though hard work and dedication have brought her far in her career, she credits her success to having wonderful mentors. Within the next five to ten years, Ms. Gurry aims to utilize her expertise as a public speaker.
