LITTLETON, CO, February 15, 2024 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Shannon Dobbs has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Backed by years of varied expertise in the food industry, Mr. Dobbs founded Food System Hackers, a Colorado Public Benefit Corporation, in 2022 in the hopes of addressing problems and challenges within the American food system. In this capacity he teaches people how to eat healthily on a budget while also advocating for food system reforms to reduce food waste and improve access to healthy food in underserved communities. Due to his vast breadth of knowledge, he teaches nonprofit organizations and government groups about market aligned sustainable strategies and aligns with addiction recovery groups, mental health groups, and more to add a nutrition component to their programs. Additionally, Mr. Dobbs has designed a pilot program for a food hub and central kitchen in the Denver area that will redistribute food from various sources - including hot hold restaurant food that requires special handling - to address needs throughout the community in collaboration with area nonprofits.
During the early stages of his career, Mr. Dobbs gained valuable expertise serving in the U.S. Army as a supply Sergeant and Psyops specialist before going into business as the owner of 5 Star Saloon and Rise Nightclub in Reno, Nevada, where he explored ways to align his business interests with community support strategies and achieved great success as a result. In 2016 he founded the 501c3 nonprofit On Common Ground as a way to advocate for the construction of a nonprofit grocery store in Reno, Nevada. Throughout his career Mr. Dobbs has leveraged his considerable knowledge to advance food system reform advocacy, authoring such works as "The Food Waste Rescue Manifesto: 9 Mistakes in Food Rescue We Need to Stop Making Now" and "Low-Hanging Fruit: Market-Based Strategies for a More Resilience Community Food System." An expert in his field, Mr. Dobbs holds a Bachelor of Science in business management from Morrison University and a Mandarin Chinese certification in applied linguistics from the Defense Language Institute's Foreign Language Center. In conjunction with his work, he contributes to his community by supporting charitable efforts with food rescue organizations like Food to Power, Denver Food Rescue, and Metro Caring. Similarly, Mr. Dobbs is collaborating with a community group in Saguache County, Colorado to implement a food access program that can provide sustainable access to healthy food in rural communities. He is also working to support a statewide coalition to end food waste.
In recognition of his outstanding accomplishments, Mr. Dobbs has been honored many times, earning the Best of Reno Award, the Best Dance Club in Northern Nevada Award, and an Achievement Medal from the U.S. Army. Although his career has been filled with standout moments, he takes the most pride in successfully developing a faltering property and LGBTQ+ community space into the preeminent dance club in Northern Nevada. The cornerstone of Mr. Dobbs' success lies in his resiliency and his ability to develop solutions to complex problems. In the coming years, he intends to contribute to the movement against hunger and food waste domestically and abroad while raising awareness and garnering support for his endeavors through public speaking.
