Ms. Veasey, executive director and owner of Alcohol Recovery Solutions and GNV Counseling & Consultation Services, possesses four decades of experience in social work and psychotherapy. Among her many career accomplishments is the creation of a specialized therapeutic process for individuals who are facing chronic and complicated grief. This process, known as the Five Written Expressions of Grief(™), is an essential element of Ms. Veasey's work with clients and forms the basis for her 2021 book, "Me after You: Surviving the Loss of a Loved One: Five Steps Toward Healing from Grief."
A licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) and licensed independent substance abuse counselor (LISAC), Ms. Veasey founded Alcohol Recovery Solutions (ARS), a state-licensed outpatient clinic that helps adults with substance use disorder, in 1998. Additionally, she runs her private practice, GNV Counseling & Consultation Services. Before starting her own practice, Ms. Veasey worked as a medical social worker in hospitals for 20 years, where she excelled in facilitating an employee education program on HIV and AIDS and was a member of a heart transplant team.
Ms. Veasey's performance in the field was born of her academic journey, beginning with the pursuit of a Bachelor of Applied Science in sociology and pre-nursing studies from Washington State University. After earning that degree in 1982, she went on to obtain a Master of Social Work degree from Arizona State University. She went on to co-found Inspired Life Strategies, LLC, doing international retreats in Bali, Italy and Spain, and also owns and manages Foothills Psychiatry & Wellness.
As a commitment to her field, Ms. Veasey has been active with a number of organizations important to her profession. She previously served as president of the Employee Assistance Professional Association (EAPA) and remains active with the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) and the National Association for Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors (NAADAC). A volunteer within her community, she also takes on leadership roles with Brighter Way Institute.
Ms. Veasey is married with two stepchildren and four grandchildren. When she is not working, she enjoys listening to music, gardening, cooking and spending time with her family and friends. A travel enthusiast, she has set a goal for herself to travel around the world in the next decade, speaking on the topic of grief and loss. Professionally, she has begun working on a book called "The Therapist Poet," which she plans to publish in the near future.
