Ms. Turner is an experienced attorney and the director of investigation and monitoring for the Oklahoma Disability Law Center Inc. (ODLC), a protection and advocacy system with offices in Oklahoma City and Tulsa. She is passionate about helping people with disabilities through her work and believes she was called to fight for those who cannot speak for themselves and for those being mistreated.
Founded in 1977, the ODLC is recognized as the state's designated protection and advocacy system, responsible for helping individuals with disabilities achieve equality, inclusion, and personal independence. The organization notably provides free legal services by focusing on protecting and advocating for those with developmental disabilities, mental illness, and traumatic brain injury, beneficiaries of social security, as well as individual rights, assistive technology, and voting accessibility.
Ms. Turner joined the ODLC in 2000 and worked as a staff attorney for over 15 years. In 2017, she was named as a managing monitoring attorney over investigations, monitoring and ODLC's Social Security's representative payee grant. She remained in this position until being promoted to director in 2019.
Throughout her tenure with the law center, Ms. Turner has garnered much success, significantly impacting numerous people throughout the state of Oklahoma. Among them, she and a colleague presented a case against the Oklahoma Healthcare Authority and won, requiring it to provide ABA therapy as a covered service under its Medicaid program.
In addition to her full-time goals at the organization, Ms. Turner found success along with her husband as the co-host of the Top 11 at 11 with DK and Joy on Crossover Radio from 2019 to 2021.
Active civically, Ms. Turner serves as the vice president of the board for the Savannah Station Therapeutic Riding Program Inc., a nonprofit whose mission is to offer hope and healing to those with special needs with the assistance of horses.
To prepare for her career, Ms. Turner received a Bachelor of Science in history from Evangel University in 1995 and a Doctor of Jurisprudence from Oklahoma City University in 1999. She has been admitted to practice by the Oklahoma Bar Association. She is licensed to practice law in Oklahoma, the United States District Courts for the Northern and Western Districts of Oklahoma, and the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals.
