Launching her business in 2018, she established the Red Rooster Cookie Jar in Oxford, Florida. As the owner of her baking company, she comes up with new and innovative recipes, contributing to her large section of flavorful cookies, pastries, scones, breads, and other treats for her loyal customers. Ms. Conti-O'Brien also featured cookies of the week, like her Firecracker Crunch, a unique and soft baked cinnamon cookie cooked with cinnamon chips, cinnamon toast crunch cereal, and Rumchata, drizzled with a Fireball whiskey glaze.
Continuously expanding her menu to accommodate the growing demand of the business, Ms. Conti-O'Brien is eager for continued success. Drawing inspiration from her family recipes, she has become sought-after for her delectable treats, dubbed "The Cookie Lady" by residents.
Leveraging her former success as a teacher, entrepreneur, and assistant producer for Random House Inc., Ms. Conti-O'Brien spent most of her years in the classroom, beginning as a sixth-grade language arts teacher at All Saints Catholic School in Norwalk, Connecticut, in 1993. She then spent two years as an eighth-grade Spanish and French teacher at Flood Middle School, Stratford Public School District, in Stratford, Connecticut, from 1996 to 1998 before becoming a Spanish teacher for another 20 years. Ms. Conti-O'Brien also found success as an educational consultant for Good Friends Productions in Bridgeport, Connecticut.
In preparation for her career in education, Ms. Conti-O'Brien received an undergraduate degree from Salve Regina University in 1989. She also completed postgraduate coursework from 1995 to 1996 and received her teaching certification from Sacred Heart University in 1996.
Active in her professional community, Ms. Conti-O'Brien is a member of the Women Business Owners Networking Group. Recognizing her entrepreneurial efforts, Alignable named her the Local Business Person of the Year in The Villages in 2023. She was also spotlighted by Restaurant Guru for Best Desserts in The Villages and GuidetoFlorida.com with a Best of Florida Spotlight Award. Among other awards, Ms. Conti-O'Brien received recognition with The Best of the 352 Award for Dessert and Bakery.
