While raising three sons as a single parent, Ms. Roberts has found success in entrepreneurship for over two decades as the owner of ONYX Group Enterprises LLC, which comprises three sub-businesses: ONYX Contracting, ONYX Wellness, and ONYX Group Media. Initially launching ONYX Paint & Tile, she continued to manage the business as an owner operator until it was incorporated into ONYX Group Enterprises LLC in 2019.
The company, whose name was inspired by a DC mixed martial artist character, ONYX, serves the residential and commercial sectors. It has continually expanded and transformed, specializing in designing and building custom homes, commercial build-outs, small hotels, and large-scale remodels. Among a range of contracts, Ms. Roberts is working on her first development project, a 15-acre destination concept village. As part of her ongoing responsibilities, she provides her construction manager with daily instructions and oversees various administrative tasks and paperwork to ensure quality control.
Grateful for her extensive portfolio, Ms. Roberts also launched ONYX Worldwide Foundation, which is planning to begin partnering with the State to create safe spaces for sex traffic victims, women of domestic violence, and pregnant teenagers throughout Williamson County, Texas.
Affiliated with various local and state-wide organizations throughout her career, Ms. Roberts was a Founding Commissioner for One Star National Service Commission in Texas from 2004 to 2012. She also spent four years as a State Republican Executive Committee member for Senate District 29 between 2000 and 2004. Ms. Roberts played a significant role in achieving several milestones during this time. Among them, she and fellow commissioners launched the One Star Foundation through an executive order by Governor Rick Perry in 2004, which has since become the leading foundation in the country for continuing public and private partnerships and providing funding of approximately $33 million annually for humanitarian needs. Ms. Roberts is also a member and former board member of Rotary International and has been active with the Agape Pregnancy Centers, the Texas Alliance for Life, and Trotter House.
