A leader in his field, Mr. Ruth is well known for his success in leading product and portfolio launches and turnarounds in the pharmaceutical, medical device, medical technology and capital equipment industries. Prior to Sydnexis, he served as vice president and head of sales and marketing for ZEISS Surgical Ophthalmology and as the U.S. senior director of marketing for Alcon Surgical. Earlier in his career, he held sales and marketing positions of increasing leadership at Novartis and Merck.
Among Mr. Ruth's many professional accomplishments has been achieving 4 Masters Club Awards, Alcon Surgical's highest honor. He received recognition for the outstanding launch of Panoptix, an advanced technology intra-ocular lens for cataract surgery patients. Another point of achievement for Mr. Ruth was his success in launching the sales and marketing structure for what, at that time, was the new U.S. ZEISS Surgical Ophthalmology organization. ZEISS Surgical Ophthalmology has grown to be a leader in the U.S. surgical ophthalmology space.
Before starting his professional path, Mr. Ruth earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of California, Riverside, in 1998 and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Redlands in 2003. He has continued his professional development through involvement with relevant organizations.
In the coming years, Mr. Ruth seeks to build his experience and expertise in transitioning a medical industry firm from the clinical-stage to the commercial stage. He has also set personal goals for himself, most notably maintaining a strong and loving bond with his future wife, Kathryn, and raising his family to be selfless individuals who contribute positively to others and society. In addition, he plans to continue his involvement with his church, mentoring others and engaging in more lecturing and mentoring at major colleges and professional organizations.
