Dr. Murphy is a highly accomplished educational/organizational psychologist and coach/consultant, as well as being a skilled certified hypnotherapist and successful real estate broker/investor. After over twenty years of exemplary service in public schools, first as a school psychologist, licensed educational psychologist, and then as an administrator at both district and county levels, Dr. Murphy launched her educational consulting firm, Murphy & Associates. In this capacity, she and her team not only worked with school districts to improve their organizational structures, develop more effective channels of communication internally and externally, and address special education compliance issues, Dr. Murphy successfully wrote and project-managed over $4 million of grants.
At age 27, Dr. Murphy was awarded the Certificate of Valor by the State of California for single-handedly thwarting an armed robbery. As Director of Student Services/Bilingual Education in Banning Unified School District, Dr. Murphy recruited and hired the first Hmong credentialed teacher in California to assist in serving the growing Hmong community. She also wrote the district's first grant to obtain supplemental educational program funding for the Laotian and Hmong communities. While serving as Director of Special Education/Student Services of the Santa Barbara schools, Dr. Murphy initiated a number of highly successful programs for students with exceptional needs, including some of the first full-inclusion programs in the state and pilot programs for high-risk youth. She also collaborated with the Dept. of Vocational Rehabilitation to design and implement a transition school-to-work program, named the Bridges program, that continues to be highly successful collaboration. For her work on this program, Dr. Murphy was awarded the Distinguished Service Award by the Santa Barbara Private Industry Council.
In 1999, Dr. Murphy secured her real estate license and began work with Coldwell Banker Residential Real Estate. In 2010, she obtained her broker's license, and later in 2012, established her own brokerage, Murphy & Associates Realty Group. Dr, Murphy then followed her love of architecture and history and began delving into renovating notable and historic properties. She was one of the early Fortune Builders' Mastery students in California, a relationship that helped propel her to another highly profitable career in real estate investing.

She is also a highly effective executive business coach/consultant, drawing upon her years of training and experience as a business owner, entrepreneur, and organizational consultant. Dr. Murphy is a life-long learner whose curiosity draws her to travel and to continually seek deeper understanding and appreciation of the lives of others. Dr. Murphy is also an active member and supporter of organizations, such as Rotary International and Mediators Beyond Borders, that share her focus on making the world a better place for all who live here now and in the future.
The foundations of Dr. Murphy's successful career can be traced back to her high school years in South Pasadena, California, and then on to the University of Southern California, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts (AB), Master of Science (MS Ed.), secondary teaching credential, and Pupil Personnel Services Credential (School Psychology, School Social Work, Counseling). After taking a hiatus from school, during which time she started several businesses as well as working as a school psychologist, Dr. Murphy returned to Claremont Graduate School (now University), to obtain her doctorate in Organizational Psychology. Never done with learning, Dr. Murphy continues to actively seek out additional interesting and challenging projects, programs and courses to expand her knowledge and skills, ranging from courses in autism spectrum disorders, trauma, attention deficit/hyperactive disorder to stress management, neurolinguistic programming, and neurofeedback training.
Dr. Murphy enjoys traveling and exploring unique places, visiting museums, attending musical theater, studying and enjoying wine, writing and photography. Looking ahead, she intends to continue growing professionally while extending her reach to help more people to not only achieve and but also exceed their goals and to lead more personally fulfilling lives.
