Backed by years of professional experience in law, Ms. Kreitlow excels as an Attorney-Advisor for the Department of Veterans Affairs. Since obtaining the role in 2004, she has drafted over 2,200 decisions for Veterans Law Judges at the Board of Veterans' Appeals, reviewing case files and recommending how cases should be decided. In addition, she has held hearings with appellants and signed at least 140 decisions as an Acting Veterans Law Judge. She was selected in the inaugural group of attorneys for the Specialty Case Team and served two two-year terms specializing in pension cases. She has mentored and coached law interns and new attorneys. Over the years, she has participated in various committees and work groups at the Board, served as an editor for the Board's Veteran's Law Journal, and currently serves as the Diversity and Inclusion Caucus's liaison to VA's I*DEA (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Access) Influencers Network.
Outside work, Ms. Kreitlow maintains affiliation with the American Bar Association, Phi Delta Phi International Legal Fraternity, and Delta Mu Delta National Honor Society. Similarly, she has dedicated herself to being a leader in her community church and has held various leadership positions over the years including choir director and director of the children's ministry in addition to being an active member of the worship and children's ministries, singing and teaching in them. She also sings in a local gospel choir sponsored by a prominent performing art organization in the Washington, D.C. metro area performing in venues throughout the area including at The Kennedy Center and the Music Center at Strathmore.
An expert in her field, Ms. Kreitlow holds a Bachelor of Science in computer science and accounting and a JD from Quinnipiac University. Subsequently, she expanded her professional knowledge by completing a Master of Laws in law and government at American University's Washington College of Law.
Though hard work and dedication have brought her far in her career, Ms. Kreitlow credits her success to never being afraid to ask questions, maintaining a positive attitude, treating everyone with respect, and being able to effectively navigate change. Looking toward the future, she intends to experience the continued success of her career and possibly expand her endeavors into other areas of interest, both professionally and personally.
