Mr. Goodman was affiliated with the law firm of Womble Bond Dickinson LLP in Charlotte, North Carolina from 1993 through 2022. Throughout his long tenure with the firm, Mr. Goodman was a litigation attorney and business advisor. His legal practice focused on complex commercial and constitutional litigation. Mr. Goodman also applies his experience as a dispute resolution attorney in his capacity as an adjunct professor at Wake Forest University School of Law in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, where he teaches courses in domestic and international arbitration. Mr. Goodman's success has been recognized with inclusion in North Carolina Business Magazine's Power List from 2021-2023 and Best Lawyers in America for Commercial Litigation for five consecutive years.
Mr. Goodman also has extensive experience as a business leader in legal organizations. From 2019 through 2022, he served as the managing partner of Womble Bond Dickinson's Charlotte office. Mr. Goodman also served for three years on the firm's management committee, led the litigation team for the Charlotte office's business litigation practice group, and served as the chair of the firm's Budget Committee for three years. To prepare for his career, Mr. Goodman studied at Duke University, where he received a Bachelor of Arts in English, magna cum laude, in 1990. As the 1986-1990 recipient of the Doris S. Slane Trinity Scholarship, Mr. Goodman was the first Trinity Scholar at Duke University. He also received the 1989 Mac Anderson Scholarship at Duke University to study abroad. He subsequently attended Harvard Law School, from which he earned a Juris Doctor, cum laude, in 1993. Shortly thereafter, Mr. Goodman was admitted to practice before all North Carolina Courts, the U.S. District Courts for the Western, Middle and Eastern Districts of North Carolina, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.
Mr. Goodman also has a long history of community service and leadership. He currently serves on the board of advisors for the Childress Klein YMCA and is a member of the community leadership council for the Children's Home Society in Charlotte, North Carolina.
