From 2018 to 2019, he worked in the Warrior Transition Support Program following his tenure as a senior communications planner from 2017 to 2018. Prior to this, he was appointed as the director information technology officer from 2013 to 2017 after serving as chief information technology officer from 2010 to 2013. In the same year of 2010, he held the role of chief information officer before advancing to chief operations officer, a position he maintained from 2007 to 2010. His earlier roles included executive officer from 2005 to 2007 and satellite communications instructor from 2003 to 2005. Mr. Rivera Garcia began his illustrious career as a transportation manager from 1996 to 2003. His journey through these various capacities within the military demonstrates his adaptability and leadership across multiple disciplines.
Throughout his career, Mr. Rivera Garcia has achieved multiple degrees. His academic background includes a Master of Arts in military and strategic leadership from American Military University in 2011, a Bachelor of Arts in computer sciences from University of Maryland Global Campus in 2005, along with an Associate of Arts in business administration and management and an Associate of Arts in general studies from the same institution also obtained in 2005.
Mr. Rivera Garcia attributes his success to having robust family support and achieving his citizenship status. His hard work and discipline have been cornerstones throughout his career progression. He initially joined the Army as a private and retired as a field grade Officer with the rank of Major after becoming legally blind in 2017. Mr. Rivera Garcia retired from the U.S. military after more than two decades of service. He has been married for 23 years and is a proud father of two children. Traveling for pleasure, work, or ministry is high among his interests outside of his professional commitments.
Looking ahead, Mr. Rivera Garcia is preparing for new challenges, including qualifying for shooting events at the Special Olympics in 2028—an unprecedented feat for someone with visual impairment. Additionally, he plans to donate a portion of earnings from his innovative domino game to support the nonprofit organizations he is associated with, continuing his legacy of service and contribution beyond his military career.
