MINNEAPOLIS, MN, February 28, 2024 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Richard H. Champley, MBA, has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
As a senior research analyst and program manager for the United States Department of Commerce, Mr. Champley has contributed to numerous projects and programs of note. He specializes in overseas travel, tourism, and international aviation and, most recently, created the I-92 U.S. International Air Traffic Program, a program that receives raw data on passengers coming into the U.S. from the Department of Homeland Security and then processes it to aid the larger business community. To date, he considers this program to be one of his finest contributions to the world at large.
Since joining the department over 20 years ago, Mr. Champley has continued to successfully manage respective programs in a team environment. Notably, he was a member of several teams recognized with honors, including a gold medal, two silver medals, and one bronze medal. In reflecting on where he stands in his career today and where he came from, Mr. Champley credits his success to his parents, who always kept sight of the value of education and provided him with constant support and encouragement despite their modest income.
Growing up, Mr. Champley's parents instilled in him the importance of persistence and determination, which propelled him forward as he received a Master of Business Administration from the Opus College of Business at the University of St. Thomas and built a career for himself. Beginning his career, he proudly volunteered for military service and earned the rank of First Lieutenant in the Unites States Army serving in international assignments. Subsequently, he worked for the Federal Reserve System and his career developed when joining Northwest Airlines in their international planning division. After contributing to the aviation company for over a decade, he focused his efforts on manager research for five years, during which time, in 1999, he became an adjunct professor in the College of Management at Metropolitan State University before joining the Department of Commerce.
Throughout his career, Mr. Champley has always maintained a passion for nurturing young talent. He enjoyed teaching management and business classes at the university level and continues to serve as a mentor for his colleagues in his department, taking new team members under his wing to provide them with the necessary training needed to thrive. Currently, Mr. Champley is primarily tasked as a senior analyst and program manager. He also oversees the contracting side of work.
In the next five years, Mr. Champley plans to transition away from contracting work, toward the subject matter side of the business. Specifically, he envisions himself working independently as a consultant and subject matter expert and plans to become involved in several organizations in the underprivileged sections of town. Outside of his role in the U.S. Department of Commerce, Mr. Champley holds membership with aviation-related organizations, such as the International Aviation Club of Washington, D.C., and the Wings Club of New York City.
