After graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Prairie View A&M University, Mrs. Martin first entered the workforce and gained experience as an employee at Ford Motor Company. While working at the company, a new supervisor wrongfully accused her of being absent from her work station and therefore threatened to write her up. As a result of that accusation, she attended a meeting with her supervisor and union representative and leveraged her knowledge of the company culture and regulations to successfully defend herself and avoid being written up.
Through that experience, Mrs. Martin realized she possessed a talent for legal argumentation and took the opportunity to make a career switch when the company decided to relocate. After receiving a Juris Doctor from Texas A&M University School of Law in 2006, she passed the bar exam and briefly operated a private practice before joining the Dallas County District Attorney's Office as an Assistant District Attorney in 2007. For over 15 years, Mrs. Martin has made an impact in her position and has received recognition accordingly.
From 2020 to 2024, Mrs. Martin earned the honor of being listed in the National Black Lawyers Top 100 list. Recently, in 2023, she received the honor of being named Prosecutor of the Year, earning that distinction over 250 other attorneys as a result of a unanimous vote by the District Attorney's Office's administration. As a result of her educational involvement and professional position, Mrs. Martin holds membership with the State Bar of Texas and the National Black Prosecutors Association. She is also a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.
