Ms. Matroni is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor and the Director of Inpatient Services at the North Dakota State Hospital in Jamestown. Recruited by the health care facility in 2007, she supports the psychiatric hospital's ongoing needs as a leader in her field. Founded in 1885, it serves as the state's primary institution for providing psychiatric rehabilitation to those with serious and persistent mental illness, treatment for substance use disorders, restoration and competency treatment, and treatment and reintegration services for those who have committed sexual offenses.
Additionally, Ms. Matroni remains committed to promoting the professional growth of the clinicians at the hospital. Since joining the organization, she has played a critical role in establishing master's degree-level therapists on-site and supporting these therapists throughout the state to ensure continuity of care.
Dedicated to her field, Ms. Matroni is passionate about supporting individuals facing severe mental health challenges. In 2020, she was accepted into the prestigious National Council for Behavioral Health Addressing Health Care Disparities Leadership Program. Looking toward future professional success, Ms. Matroni has a 2024 plan to relocate to Southern California and reestablish herself in the new community. Her goal is to continue to provide service to those in most need and continue to advance equitable mental health services. Ms. Matroni attributes her success to the influence of prominent female leaders who have encouraged her growth and development.
Civically invested, Ms. Matroni has been active with the Jamestown Safe Shelter, membership and vestry support at Grace Episcopal Church, and an employee of Two Rivers Activity Center. In the past, she has been a board member of Mental Health America and the American Cancer Society. To promote the mental wellness of the Jamestown community, Ms. Matroni is a contracted employee of Inspired Health Care as a psychotherapist.
Highly educated, Ms. Matroni received a master's degree in General Psychology from Capella University in Minneapolis in 2010 and a second master's degree in Community Mental Health from the University of Mary in Bismarck, North Dakota, in 2015. She also holds credentials as a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor and National Certified Counselor. Ms. Matroni is a certified yoga instructor. As part of her ongoing professional commitments in the field, Ms. Matroni is a member of the North Dakota Board of Counselor Examiners, the National Board for Certified Counselors Inc., and the North Dakota Counseling Association.
