SPRING, TX, February 29, 2024 /24-7PressRelease/ -- As one of the newest additions to Marquis Who's Who (MWW), Jessica Strawn wears many hats, and has numerous accomplishments including her professional work as a renal dietician and nutritionist providing heartfelt care for patients with renal and kidney disease. She, Jessica Clancy (pen name) is the author, of the award-winning book, The Quest For Family, a foster parent, a volunteer with an anti-trafficking non-profit organization, a bible study leader for emotionally healthy relationships, and a facilitator for Re-Engage, a bible-based marriage group. She continues to serve in the community at her church volunteering and serving which includes the childrens' program.
Her impressive achievements are even more remarkable when taken within the context of her less than fortunate start in life. By the time she was 6, her mother had been married three times and had continually moved her around the US and abroad, making it difficult to set down roots and develop meaningful relationships and friendships.
Her childhood was a litany of neglect and emotional, physical, and sexual abuse, but with sheer perseverance, and a strong faith in God, she chose to rise above her difficulties to become an advocate for those impacted by domestic abuse, violence, and neglect.
Jessica chronicles her life story in The Quest For Family with the aim of emphasizing the restorative power of her Christian beliefs and the redemption and forgiveness that is available to all. She was delighted to win first place in the 2024 Texas Authors' Institute under the Christian non-fiction category, and to also win a 2024 Independent Press Award.
"To now be recognised by Marquis Who's Who, the world's leading biographical publisher, is beyond my wildest dreams," says Jessica.
Past world-famous MWW winners include the likes of Elon Musk, Barack Obama, Martin Luther King Jr, Taylor Swift, Bill Gates, Jeff Bezos, and Whitney Houston.
With no family support, Jessica started her working life as a cosmetologist, a job she held for 18 years, saving up the required funds to finance her way through college.
After leaving school, she worked for Visible Changes Hair Salon, a fortune 500 company, from 1990 until 2008 and worked at the British University of North America Club in England in 1996. During her time abroad, she traveled to seventeen European countries learning about people, culture and community.
Jessica earned a Bachelor of Science in dietetics and clinical nutrition services from the University of Houston in 2001, followed by a Master of Arts in the same field of study from Sam Houston State University in 2002.
In 2008 she was the diet office team manager for Memorial Hermann Health System and became a clinical dietitian for Ben Taub Hospital in 2009. She continued her career as a renal dietitian for a dialysis clinic in Houston in 2012 and was employed as a clinical dietitian manager for a skilled nursing and rehabilitation center in 2017. Additionally, she worked as a clinical dietitian for Kindred Healthcare from 2008 until 2020.
Jessica has been a licensed dietician with the Texas State Board of Examiners for Dietitians and a registered dietitian nutritionist since 2008. She regularly attends industry conferences to keep abreast of the latest cutting-edge information, especially in regard to kidney disease. She is an active member of National Kidney Foundation and Council of Renal Nutrition.
She is part of the Speak Network for Abbvie Pharmaceutical Company as she speaks out for overcoming infertility and family planning. She advocates for family in everything she does.
Following the successful launch of her book, she plans to market it worldwide, believing it has the power to help change lives for the better. She is also working on another book in collaboration with her primary school aged daughter, which focuses on her experiences as a dog rescuer and has undertones of fostering and adopting.
