Mia's Homes Family Foster Agency focuses on providing foster care services throughout San Bernardino, Los Angeles, Riverside, and Orange Counties. Ms. Bloom and her team work closely to support the abused and neglected children while emphasizing the importance of reuniting families. As part of her ongoing commitments, she certifies homes to ensure a safe haven, which includes the necessary care and compassion for these children to thrive. Ms. Bloom also focuses heavily on compliance and supervising social workers and trainers who train foster care parents. As a testament to her success, her foster agency has been recognized among the top 2% in compliance by the Council on Accreditation (COA).
Ms. Bloom formerly spent two decades in mental health care, beginning as a school-based therapist for the local school district. She provided mental health services while working with several county and private mental health agencies. She has been an administrator, therapist and social worker for many foster care agencies and group homes. During her tenure in the industry, she garnered expertise working with institutionalized children, helping them to transition back to their homes or to alternative care settings. Ms. Bloom was also instrumental in supporting abused and neglected children through social work.
As someone who draws significant fulfillment in her role, Ms. Bloom aims to continue advocating for the next generation of professionals in foster care through Mia's Homes. She has notably made many advances during her career, including helping to mandate new regulations that ensure that every child entering juvenile hall is assessed for their mental health and educational needs.
Civically invested, Ms. Bloom is a San Diego Turtle and Tortoise society member. She has also assisted with Changing Reins, a nonprofit established by her daughter that caters to empowering individuals through animal-assisted activities. Ms. Bloom and her daughter are both trained and certified in Equine-assisted growth and learning (EAGALA).
Ms. Bloom graduated from Mount San Antonio College in 1994 with an associate degree. She also received a Bachelor of Science in clinical psychology in 1995 and a Master of Science in clinical psychology in 1997 from California State Polytechnic University. She holds certifications in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TFCBT), Seeking Safety, Aggression Replacement Therapy (ART), Rational Living Therapy, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and Pediatric Bipolar Disorders, and Evaluation and Treatment of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).
Dedicated to her profession, Ms. Bloom participates in supporting community partnerships, including The Association of Foster Family Agencies.
