In early 2021 Mr. Cusick was approached by 365 and asked to help grow the sales of a fledgling suite of dining technology products. With special focus on driving needed improvements to the platform and selling where his relationships ran deep, 365 has realized a 364% increase in sales of the dining platform since Mr. Cusick came on board.
A respected leader who has been instrumental in helping numerous other professionals excel in a myriad of positions, Mr. Cusick spent the early part of his career honing sales skills he had learned from his late father William (Bill) Cusick. Bill was a self-taught businessman who was orphaned at 11, put himself through college by the age of 20 while working 50+ hour/weeks and attending classes at the University of Scranton. In 1957, Bill Cusick started a company from his dining room table, a professional sales organization that after 65 years is still representing top-level electrical manufacturers in a territory covering 4 states.
As a young entrepreneur, Mr. Cusick started and sold 2 successful businesses before the age of 38 and when an old friend called needing someone to help run the sales and operations of a new venture, Mr. Cusick helped him drive sales of the start up from $500,000 to more than $15 million dollars in less than 5 years.
For the twelve and a half years prior to joining 365 Retail Markets, Mr. Cusick was at Compass Group North America, based in Charlotte, NC. Beginning as director of national accounts, then vice president of corporate vendor relations, and finally as the vice president of national accounts, Mr. Cusick left in late 2020 to spend less time "in the air" and more time at home. Mr. Cusick attributes much of his success to a knack for developing long-standing, mutually beneficial relationships, and gaining the trust and admiration of others in and around business. He also notes that providing clear communication, doing what you say you're going to do, taking ownership of your mistakes, and building a career based on trust, honesty, and integrity will take you a long way in both business and life. Additionally, he thrives on being productive and remaining engaged in the workforce after all these years. Eventually, Mr. Cusick would enjoy transition into a consulting type role, allowing for more time to enjoy his passions of surfing, skiing, and golfing with friends and family. But for now, serving customers and clients still "gets him out of bed in the morning".
Mr. Cusick graduated from Abington Senior High School in Abington, Pennsylvania. He subsequently studied at Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, played collegiate lacrosse, was a member of the Phi Kappa Psi Fraternity, and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics. During his college years, Mr. Cusick was selected to the All-East Coast Conference lacrosse team for 3 straight years, ranked top 5 in the nation in goals per game in both his junior and senior seasons, graduated as Bucknell's all-time career goal-scoring leader, played in the USILA Senior All Star game featuring the nation's best players from that year's graduating class, and most notably, was named a Division I Lacrosse All-American. Several years later, Mr. Cusick was inducted into the Bucknell Athletic Hall of Fame.
As part of his continued past and present professional commitments, Mr. Cusick remains active in professional industries as a member of the Society for Hospitality and Foodservice Management (SHFM), the National Automatic Merchandising Association (NAMA), as well as the National Waste & Recycling Association. To give back personally, he's enjoyed volunteering with companies like Feed My Starving Children, The National Kidney Foundation, and Toys for Tots. And, recently after spending 26 years in Charlotte, NC and helping to raise 4 children, Mr. Cusick and his wife Ellie have moved back to the Philadelphia suburbs to be closer to their remaining family and his lifelong friends.
