Drawing on over four decades of experience in health care, Mrs. Carolyn Pickens Coleman joined her most recent organization as a nurse case manager in 2020. Over the past few years in her position, she has been providing patient care as a critical care nurse, as well as a case manager advocating for patients, facilitating student exposure to the clinical experience, and, among other obligations, encouraging compliance throughout her department. Her most recent employer is recognized as a respected health care organization with over 35 years of success in the industry. Mrs. Coleman began her career as a licensed practical nurse in 1980. She subsequently became a registered critical care nurse, having worked in various capacities, and was affiliated with nThrive Inc. for over five years as a clinical auditor II and utilization review nurse. Moreover, Mrs. Coleman spent over 20 years as an instructor for advanced cardiac life support. Mrs. Coleman found success in higher education as an adjunct instructor on a part-time basis and contributed to the COVID-19 pandemic hotline for about a year, dedicating her efforts to educating patients about the disease and related matters.

She has also been active as a trustee and past president affiliated with the Bessemer Public Library in Bessemer, Alabama. She is also a Lifetime Member of the National Black Nurse's Association and is a ForbesBLK Member.
Mrs. Coleman graduated from Samford University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Strayer University with a Master's in Health Services Administration. She also received credentials as a licensed practical nurse and registered nurse. She reflects on her career with admiration and is committed to continuing her efforts in education and advocacy for patients and the public, with a particular focus on underserved communities. Mrs. Coleman has also benefited from several mentors early on in her career who have helped shape her future.
Mrs. Coleman is also the author of four #1 best-selling anthologies of which two were #1 international best sellers. She is also an international podcaster.
