With 33 years of experience in biotechnology research, Ms. Mason is recognized for her vision as interim vice president of contract research organization (CRO) services for Southern Research, a nonprofit scientific research organization offering comprehensive services throughout the drug discovery and development process. Under her leadership, the division specializes in pre-clinical research, collaborating with prominent commercial as well as governmental entities to conduct comprehensive toxicology assessments and bring promising new drugs toward the clinical trial phase.
Ms. Mason is a devoted, longtime employee at Southern Research, who is driven by her passion for the company's vision; her steadfast belief in the organization's mission has been instrumental in her personal and professional advancement within the company over the years. She first joined Southern Research as a research assistant in 1991. After more than 25 years with the organization, during which time she ascended to the roles of laboratory supervisor, scientific resources manager and operations manager, she briefly accepted a role as program manager with the Phase 1 Clinical Trials Program at the O'Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She returned to Southern Research in 2019 as a quality assurance auditor and was swiftly promoted to director of core lab services and most recently, to the role of interim vice president of CRO services.

Collaborating with the executive leadership team, she ensures alignment and synergy, enabling the organization to progress cohesively and spearheading the establishment of new business lines. Committed to fostering growth, Ms. Mason is dedicated to ensuring that her colleagues are well-prepared and positioned to seize the opportunities that come their way.
Ms. Mason holds a bachelor's degree in biology and a master's degree in anatomic science, both from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Additionally, she holds a graduate certificate in biotechnology and regulatory affairs from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and is board-certified in histotechnology by the American Society for Clinical Pathology.
Outside of work, Ms. Mason enjoys spending time with her husband, Reginald Mason, and other members of her family. Looking toward the future, she is excited to pursue an executive MBA.
