An alumnus of National Chung-Hsing University in Taiwan, Dr. Peter Wei-Shin Chou graduated with a BS in agricultural chemistry in 1954 prior to taking on his first role as a chemistry teacher at the Cishan Agricultural Vocational School. Departing in 1956, he immigrated to the U.S. and earned a BS in food technology from Oregon State University, Corvallis in 1958 and MS in food science from Washington State University, Pullman in 1960. While studying toward his doctor ate at the University of Missouri, he served the university as a teaching and research assistant. He earned a PhD in biochemistry in 1968 and served as a postdoctoral fellow.
