In his global consulting experience, he has served as an executive advisor to board members and CXO executives at large financial institutions (including investment banking, wealth & asset management, banking, capital markets and private equity) and has advised them on key strategic areas around mergers & acquisitions, digital transformation, cost reduction and operating model effectiveness. He has supported his clients in formulating their business strategy and translating it into actionable projects and strategic programs around M&A transactions (integrations, carve-outs and divestitures), portfolio management, trading & investment research platforms and regulatory operational efficiency.
Prior to joining IBM, Mr. Saxena was a Senior Director at FTI Consulting, a premier financial consulting firm, where he co-led their Finance Technology team with CFO Advisory practice. Before that, he was part of Ernest & Young(EY) and PricewaterhouseCoopers(PwC) in their Financial Services Strategy group. He started his career in 2005 in India as Associate Consultant with Oracle Financial Services with their Investment Banking Solutions group and then moved to the U.S. for business school in 2010.
Among his professional accomplishments, Mr. Saxena has been a panelist, speaker and start-up mentor & judge at many industry and academic forums such as Wealth M&A panelist CFA Society NY, MassChallenge, Harvard University, Hultprize, EY Innovation lab and UN's ITU Incubator and published author on digital transformation topics (Digital Productivity during Covid-19 and Digital Finance Transformation). At Ernst & Young, he was named an EY Innovation Ambassador and received recognition for his mentorship work through the EY Innovation Lab program and was honored with multiple Bravo awards. In 2022, he received the IBM Growth Award in recognition of his client leadership.
Also dedicated to civil advocacy, Mr. Saxena engages in pro bono work for startup accelerators initiated by individuals of diverse backgrounds and members of women and underrepresented communities. He was co-founder for SMILE, a volunteer-led collective initiative dedicated to addressing issues affecting street and orphaned children. He contributes regularly to charities dedicated to STEM education, promotion of science, culture, arts and women's empowerment, including for charitable initiatives in India.
Prior to embarking on his professional journey, Mr. Saxena earned a Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Engineering from Nagpur University in India in 2005. Following this achievement, he attained a Master of Business Administration in strategy and innovation from the Hult International Business School in 2011 and completed management consulting graduate-level coursework at Harvard University.
Looking to the future, Mr. Saxena intends to rise to leadership roles within industry-side, PE/VC or consulting firm. He aims to contribute his dedicated expertise to his present role, particularly by delving deeper into strategy and mergers and acquisitions work.
