His extensive experience spans over four decades, with a career that began in golf course, construction, management and maintenance. Mr. Miller's expertise is recognized across various aspects of soil fertility, water quality, chemicals, turf management, golf course management, golf course construction, residential/commercial, and the sod farm industry.
Before joining Ameriturf, Mr. Miller was the national agronomist for Redox Chemical from 2007 to 2016. His responsibilities included overseeing agronomy operations, providing technical support for national accounts, and playing a part in the development and initiation of Redox Turf focusing on the golf and turfgrass industry. From 2004 to 2007, he served as the director of agronomy for the Professional Golfers' Association of America, where he managed golf course facilities and contributed to the organization's prestigious reputation. Mr. Miller's role as the vice president of agronomy at Eagle Golf between 2003 and 2004 and as the director of agronomy at Walters Golf from 2002 to 2004 further solidified his leadership in the field.
Among other noteworthy roles, Mr. Miller was the maintenance director at American Golf Corporation and held the esteemed position of director of agronomy at Barton Creek Resort & Spa. His earlier roles included the position of superintendent at Treyburn Country Club and Marsh Creek/Deer Creek Country Clubs, as well as assistant superintendent at Hidden Hills Country Club, dating to 1987. Apart from his professional commitments, Mr. Miller was active civically as the president of the Texas A&M University Turf Club.
Mr. Miller attended college in Texas, receiving a Bachelor of Science in agronomy and crop science from Texas A&M University in 1987 after initially completing coursework at Angelo State University between 1980 and 1984. The mentorship of Dr. James Beard greatly influenced his academic pursuits. Since graduating from college, Mr. Miller has remained affiliated with several professional organizations, namely the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America, the Sod Association, the Turfgrass Association, and local and state associations in the state of Texas.
Recognized for contributions to environmental conservation within his field, Mr. Miller received a National Environmental Stewardship Award from Audubon International. He credits his success to the strong work ethic instilled by his parents and the valuable lessons learned from both positive and negative professional experiences throughout his career.
