Backed by years of professional expertise, Mr. Santa supervises East Coast project development as a project manager for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. Likewise, he is a senior architectural project manager for A&E Architecture Studio.
During the early stages of his career, he gained valuable expertise in master planning as Director of Planning for the Municipality of Aguadilla in Puerto Rico, Studio Leader in Toll Brothers, Lead Architect with the 579th Engineering Detachment US Army Corps of Engineers and U.S. Army Garrison Command in Kandahar/Bagram-Afghanistan. During his time in the Corps, Mr. Santa was awarded many honors for his exceptional work. As a Subject Matter Expert, he later became Command Engineer for the Special Operations Command Central at MacDill Air Force Base with responsibility of 11 countries in the Middle East and Asia.
An expert in his field, Mr. Santa earned a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Minnesota, College of Architecture and Landscape Architecture. Subsequently, he became a licensed architect through Florida, Alabama, and Puerto Rico and is certified through the American Institute of Architects and the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards.
In light of his professional achievements, he has been honored with many commendations from the Department of Defense to include the ARMY Engineer Association Bronze Order of the de Fleury Medal through the Chief Engineers of the United States, the Department of the ARMY Superior Civilian Service Award, Commander's Award for Civilian Service, Civilian Service Achievement Medal, two Department of the Air Force Meritorious Civilian Service Awards, two Secretary of Defense Medals – Global War on Terrorism, and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization Medal. He was also named the Special Operations Command Central 2019 Civilian of the Year.
While his career has been filled with highlights, Mr. Santa takes the most pride in establishing operations at Camp Xiphos in Jordan, which covers 22 acres of land that includes housing, dining facilities, warehouses, clinics, parking lots, and more in support of US Forces. Though hard work and dedication have brought him far in his career, he credits his success to his perseverance instilled in him by his parents, Dr. José A. Santa, and Mrs. María D. Rodriguez, and the unwavering support of his wife Glorimar Torres and his siblings, Lorena, Sebastian and Andrea.
