HOUSTON, TX, March 18, 2024 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Pieter Wybro has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
A retired ocean engineer and oil and gas industry expert, Dr. Wybro serves as a board member with Maritech International, which supports the development of ocean wave energy using SavRot technology. Before retiring, he was the principal owner of Sea Engineering, which was sold to Worley, where he oversaw daily business operations. Over the years, Dr. Wybro gained valuable expertise in ocean engineering with Getty Oil Company, where he drilled in areas of the Mediterranean that other major oil companies were not interested in, drilling in up to 4,000 feet of water for oil and other resources.
Throughout his career, Dr. Wybro and his team were commissioned by major oil and gas companies such as Shell to design major oil and gas offshore platforms such as Arctic 1 that could withstand Arctic conditions and be moved around as needed. Likewise, he developed a patented system to perform wireline re-entry of subsea wells from a workboat as part of Conoco Production Engineering Research and served as the chief executive officer and owner of Sea Engineering, an international offshore floating systems engineering, design, and construction management company. Outside of his work, Dr. Wybro also wrote "Adventures of Sailboat Marco Polo: How one couple prepared for and lived their cruising dream."
An expert in his field, Dr. Wybro holds a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Virginia. Subsequently, he expanded his professional knowledge, completing a master's degree and a PhD in ocean engineering from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. In conjunction with his work, he contributes to the Energy Education Foundation. While his career has been filled with highlights, he takes the most pride in his involvement with the Marco Polo platform, which at the time held the water depth record and was awarded Project of the Year at the Offshore Technology Conference. Another standout moment in his career was installing the Joilet Platform for Conoco, which was the first deepwater tension leg platform and the deepest platform in the world at the time. Within the coming years, Dr. Wybro aims to consult intermittently while spending more time with his wife.
