Before obtaining his current role in 2020, Mr. Lycka oversaw regulatory matters and licensing as the director of regulatory affairs for GVC Holdings/LadbrokesCoral, served as regulatory counsel for GVC Holdings, and worked as the head of regulatory market entries and senior international legal counsel for Paddy Power Betfair. During the early stages of his career, Mr. Lycka gained valuable expertise on an international scale with Salans' Prague Office, SVJ Parizska 17, the Czech Republic Senate, Clariant SA, Aliachem A.S., the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, and KU Leuven, Belgium's oldest university, through which he studied European and international law.
An expert in his field, Mr. Lycka holds a Master of Laws and Doctor of Laws in European law from Charles University, a Master of Laws in European legal studies from the College of Europe, and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Law, London. In conjunction with his work, he is aligned with the American Gaming Association, the National Council on Problem Gambling, and RG247. Likewise, Mr. Lycka contributes to the industry and those less fortunate through the Entain Foundation US, the Gaming Law Advisory Board of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas William S. In light of his professional achievements, Mr. Lycka has been honored many times throughout his career, earning recognition for outstanding contributions to responsible gaming and gambling related regulatory matters through the Vixio Global Regulatory Awards and IGaming Idol, and received the Don Feeney Award for Responsible Gaming Excellence from the National Council on Problem Gambling. Throughout his career, Mr. Lycka has also led the team that repeatedly secured the Socially Responsible Operator of the Year awards for his business through SBC Latin America, Global, and North America. He also won the Penta Award for Excellence Study Results through Penta Group, two Best Oralist Awards through moot court competitions, and a 40 Under 40 Emerging Leaders in Gaming Award through Innovation Group/GGB Magazine.
While his career has been filled with highlights, Mr. Lycka takes the most pride in his contributions to the online gambling industry. He has helped to regulate online gambling markets there were previously unregulated and is known for implementing responsible gambling initiatives and partnerships with professional and college sports leagues.
