Dr. Siclovan is the lead inventor of the first self-renewing weatherable polymer (Solex, then Lexan SLX) a high volume weatherable thermoplastic material. While working on GE Healthcare projects, he was the lead inventor of the first intraoperative nerve imaging dye, an intellectual property portfolio that has since helped surgeons see the anatomy clearly during laparoscopic surgeries. For his work at GE, Dr. Siclovan was honored with both the Whitney Award and the Dushman Award, achievements that reflect not only his dedication to scientific advancement but also his commitment to enhancing industry practices through groundbreaking research and development.
Along with his professional experience, Dr. Siclovan's academic studies and research pursuits laid the groundwork for his success in his field. Before moving to the United States in 1992, he earned the equivalent of a Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering from the Polytechnic University of Timisoara in 1986 and honed his skill set working as a research engineer from 1986 to 1989 and then as a research associate from 1989 to 1992 at the university. After immigrating to the U.S., he attended Iowa State University, where he continued to focus on research and received a doctorate in organic chemistry in 1996.
