Apart from his vested interest in law and education, Mr. James has been active civically as a member of the panel of experts of the International Religious Liberty Association since 2006 and has served as the Public Affairs and Religious Liberty (PARL) Director of the New York Conference of Seventh-Day Adventists since 2019. In preparation for his career, Mr. James earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of the Virgin Islands in 1986 and a Master of Divinity from Andrews University in 1991. Furthering his education, he garnered a Master of Business Administration from the University at Albany in 1993, a Doctor of Jurisprudence from Syracuse University in 1998, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Christian Education from Newburgh Theological Seminary in 2013. Mr. James has been admitted to practice by the New York and Texas Bar Associations, the U.S. Tax Court, and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas. He is also a registered tax return preparer with the Internal Revenue Service, and an ordained minister of religion.
