A third-generation florist, he began with the company nearly a decade before taking over the business at 22. In recent years, the florist opened a new 6,000-square-foot retail location with a 500-square-foot walk-in cooler where customers can browse through their selection of flowers. As owner, he oversees business development and procurement, scales up operations during certain holidays, including Valentine's Day and Mother's Day, and manages between 30 and 40 staff members. Likewise, Mr. Varvarigos is a master designer, creating beautiful flower arrangements with various stems and greenery.
Before joining his family business, Mr. Varvarigos worked in restaurants for many years, serving as a busboy, cook, and sous chef for Little Palm Island. He earned an associate degree from The Culinary Institute of America after graduating high school. He became an accredited Florida State Master Designer through the Florida State Florists' Association, where he serves as an executive board member.
In conjunction with Wellington Florist, Mr. Varvarigos donates flowers and flower arrangements to various organizations and businesses within his community. Likewise, he contributes to those less fortunate through Habitat for Humanity, the Wellington Community Foundation, Junior Achievement, and the Lighthouse for the Blind. Given his professional achievements, he was featured on the cover of Floral Management Magazine. He was named the Retail Florist of the Year in Florida by the Florida State Florists' Association in 2024. Previously, Mr. Varvarigos was recognized as the Best Florist in Palm Beach through the Palm Beach Post on three occasions and the Small Business Person of the Year through the Chamber of Commerce of the Palm Beaches.
Though hard work and dedication have brought him far in his career, Mr. Varvarigos credits his success to providing his customers with great experiences, including a seven-day guarantee on all flowers, and his mentors, Marty and Michelle of Kuhn Flowers in Jacksonville, Florida, who he considers his "floral parents." Looking ahead, he intends to achieve a growth rate of 15 percent and reach $5 million in revenue within the next two and a half years. Ultimately, Mr. Varvarigos wants to maintain control over the quality and logistics of his products. Instead of establishing another location, he plans to invest in another delivery truck and focus on advertising in nearby cities.
