JERSEY CITY, NJ, March 26, 2024 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Josephine DiMaggio, MSEd, has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
For more than a decade, Ms. DiMaggio has cultivated her career within the field of higher education. Since 2022, she has held the title of department administrator at the City University of New York Graduate School of Public Health and Health Policy and manages administrative tasks for two academic departments. Along with improving the efficiency between the two departments, she has increased student engagement by creating, developing, and managing a social media presence for both departments, which includes departmental student groups for interest-based collaboration. Moreover, Ms. DiMaggio's responsibilities include budget oversight, processing new hire paperwork, maintaining faculty records, and facilitating communication with students. She also collaborates with academic leadership to develop strategic initiatives to enhance students' experiences and aim for continuous improvement.
Prior to becoming a department administrator, Ms. DiMaggio progressed from being a recruitment coordinator to a recruitment specialist, and eventually to assistant director of recruitment for the Accelerated Study in Associate Programs (ASAP) at Borough of Manhattan Community College. This program provides financial and academic assistance to increase opportunities for students. Her ascent to the position occurred during the COVID-19 pandemic when students and the institution were both facing immense difficulties. During the pandemic, Ms. DiMaggio noted certain inequities and barriers for students in the enrollment process. From 2019 to 2022, she not only developed an innovative asynchronous video application format that significantly aided student recruitment and improved equitable practices but also managed to concurrently obtain a Master of Science in Education with a concentration in Institutional Research from Baruch College, which helped her rise through the ranks and ultimately step into her current administrative role.
Along with gaining foundational workplace experience, her educational background has been instrumental in her professional journey. Growing up in a working-class, immigrant household in Brooklyn, New York, Ms. DiMaggio bore witness to the rising cost of living and the decrease of safe, affordable housing.
In her early adulthood, Ms. DiMaggio faced numerous hardships as a result of hazardous living conditions, experiencing multiple floods in her residence. This propelled her to return to school in order to expand her professional opportunities and thus grow her income to afford better living conditions. Through hard work, dedication, and savings, she became the first in her family to receive a master's degree and the first woman in her family to purchase her own property. Along with her advanced degree, she holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Purchase College, State University of New York. Her experiences, hardships and achievements led her to write and publish a personal development book, "Review, Reflect, Realize: Creating a Customized Life". This book focuses on reviewing the current state of your life, reflecting on the changes you'd like to make, and realizing your potential by creating an action plan. She also provides worksheets along with the book to assist people in developing their own personal development plan. Ms. DiMaggio hopes this book will help others transform their lives and inspire them to do great things.
Beyond her professional endeavors and aspirations, Ms. DiMaggio is committed to giving back to the community. She regularly volunteers at the Brooklyn Museum and contributes to Save the Children and the Natural Conservation Society. Both philanthropically and professionally, she remains committed to bettering the lives of those around her.
Looking ahead, Ms. DiMaggio remains driven by her desire to help others overcome challenges and hurdles and help them realize their potential. To carry out this mission, she aspires to ascend to a directorial role within academic affairs and implement significant improvements to enhance the educational quality and efficiency for students. By maximizing the colleges' resources, she believes she can drive the institution's progress to better serve the academic community.
