    CRYSTAL, MN, March 27, 2024 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Brett L. McNeal Sr., MS, has been selected for inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Mr. McNeal is a distinguished figure in athletic administration, currently serving as the district assistant director of athletics for Minneapolis Public Schools since 2023. His expertise spans diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging (DEIB), coaching, developing coaches, strategizing and planning, management, budgeting, conflict management, and problem-solving. Mr. McNeal's career with Minneapolis Public Schools began as a behavior dean between 2011 and 2012, where he laid the groundwork for his future roles by fostering strong relationships with students and parents. He then advanced to become a high school athletic director from 2012 to 2023, where he demonstrated excellence in leadership, supervision, operations, community relations, and budget & inventory.

Prior to his administrative roles, Mr. McNeal honed his coaching abilities as the head varsity basketball coach at North Community High School in Minneapolis from 2001 to 2007. His tenure there was marked by significant contributions to the development of young athletes, many of whom have achieved remarkable success in their respective sports careers. Mr. McNeal takes great pride in the success stories of those he has coached and mentored, including those who have earned basketball scholarships, been drafted into professional sports, become business owners, or ascended to civic and managerial positions.

Mr. McNeal has demonstrated a firm commitment to empowering young people throughout his career. Among his contributions, he has been active on the board of ForeUs since 2023, an organization that serves Twin Cities youth by providing them with caddy opportunities, golf lessons, scholarships, peer and mentor support, and life skills in the game of golf. Mr. McNeal has also been active with Hospitality House Youth Development, a North Minneapolis non-profit focusing on the development of inner-city youth and their families by providing them with educational, athletic and leadership opportunities with a Christ centered focus. Brett McNeal has also served on the Minnesota Mr. Basketball Committee, which seeks to select the best boy's basketball player in the state each year by naming them Mr. Basketball.

Mr. McNeal's educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts in speech communication and rhetoric from Western Kentucky University and a Master of Science in athletic administration from Grace College and Seminary. Additional educational pursuits to his credit include becoming a certified master athletic administrator (CMAA) through the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (NIAAA). Mr. McNeal also holds certification in adult and pediatric first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and automated external defibrillator.

Adding to his professional success, Mr. McNeal has been a member of several industry-related organizations, including the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association, the National Federation of State High School Associations, the National Organization of Minority Athletic Directors, the Minnesota Interscholastic Activities Administrators Association, and the Minneapolis Association of Administrators and Supervisors. The support and guidance from Mr. McNeal's mentors throughout his career have also been pivotal to his accomplishments.

In recognition of his exceptional talents and contributions to sports, Mr. McNeal has received numerous accolades, including induction into the Hall of Fame at Western Kentucky University in 2007, being named Collegiate All-American while playing, selected 2nd team All Sun Belt conference in 87-88 and 1st team in 88-89, and earning a spot on the All-Sun Belt Conference Tournament team in 86-87. His prowess on the basketball court was evident early on when he was honored as Mr. Basketball of Minnesota by the Minnesota Mr. Basketball Committee in 1985. He received recognition as High School All-American and Metro Player of the Year titles from Star & Tribune that same year. Additionally, Mr. McNeal has been acknowledged with a Distinguished Citizenship Award for his exemplary service and leadership.
