At the age of 50, Mr. Kreuz pursued a second career in law, becoming the oldest individual ever admitted to law school in the State of Wisconsin. Despite his late legal start and the challenges presented, he graduated within two years from Marquette University with a Juris Doctor; earned his license to practice in Wisconsin, Illinois, and Nevada; and went on to establish the Law Office of John L. Kreuz in Las Vegas in 2003. Since building a thriving legal practice, Mr. Kreuz has specialized in transactional law, taxation, wills, and estate planning and created the Nevada Asset Protection Trusts for out-of-state residents.
Through his work, Mr. Kreuz has become a respected figure in his field. The expertise he acquired through his legal education and over two decades in practice is a testament to his dedication and proficiency in navigating complex legal landscapes. Prior to opening his own law practice, Mr. Kreuz enjoyed a career in finance for nearly 20 years. From 1992 to 2009, he worked as a pension fund manager for Gulf Industries Inc. in New Orleans and served as a registered player financial advisor for the National Football League Players Association from 2004 to 2012.
At the start of his career, Mr. Kreuz served in the United States Army and then worked as a certified financial planner, from 1980 to 2003. For his work in the financial sector, he earned recognition as one of America's top financial planners, as recognized by the Consumers Research Council of America. Additionally, he has been honored by Mensa International. When Mr. Kreuz made the transition to law later in his career, he leveraged his extensive experience in financial management, which he credits with contributing to his adeptness in handling legal matters related to taxation and estates.
For his involvement in both the legal and financial spheres, Mr. Kreuz has held membership with the American Bankers Association, the Institute of Business and Finance, and the Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission of the Supreme Court of Illinois. Along with his most recent law degree, he holds a Master of Business Administration from the Keller Graduate School of Management at DeVry University, which he earned in 2000, and a bachelor's degree from Michigan State University, which he received in 1972. Coupled with his degrees, Mr. Kreuz earned several certifications throughout his financial and legal career; he is a certified fund specialist, investment management analyst, financial planner, and trust and finance advisor.
Most recently, in 2020, Mr. Kreuz earned certification through John Hopkins University to become specialized in biostatistics. Outside of his career, he donates his time and resources to the Goodwill Foundation. In addition to his professional and civic pursuits, he is deeply invested in his family life as a father to one son and one daughter, who now have children of their own, and cherishes the role of being a parent and grandparent.
