Driven to pursue a career in service to others, Ms. Watson excels as a partner with BKW Family Law LLC, a boutique family law firm, through which she specializes in divorce, child custody, adoption, alternative dispute resolution, and more. In her work with the firm, she serves as a litigator, mediator, arbitrator, court-appointed guardian ad litem, and child advocate. Before obtaining her current role, Ms. Watson worked for BKW Family Law as an associate and law clerk.
Due to her vast breadth of knowledge and experience, Ms. Watson has lectured and conducted training sessions at several institutions, including Temple University's Beasley School of Law, The Philadelphia Association of Paralegals, the Philadelphia and American Bar Associations, and the Free Library of Philadelphia, to name a few. Similarly, she has contributed to such works as "Perspectives on Building a Woman-Owned Law Firm," "What Happened to the Best Interests of the Children?" and "Whose Child is This? Second-Parent Adoption in Pennsylvania."
An expert in her field, Ms. Watson earned a Bachelor of Arts in English with a minor in women's studies from Muhlenberg College. Subsequently, she completed her JD at Temple University's Beasley School of Law. To remain abreast of ongoing industry changes, she aligns herself with several industry organizations, including the Philadelphia and Pennsylvania Bar Associations' family law sections and Philadelphia Volunteers for the Indigent, where she serves as president of the Board of Directors. Ms. Watson also serves on the board of advisers for Pennsylvanians for Modern Courts and CORA-Good Shepherd Meditation.
In conjunction with her work, Ms. Watson contributes to her community through the Cherry Hill Women's Center, the local school board's equity committee, Support Center for Child Advocates, and her son's hockey club. For her professional achievements, she has been honored many times, earning a Family Friendly Award from the Philadelphia Bar Association, AV-Preeminent Ratings through Martindale-Hubbell, and the Brennan Award for BKW Family Law. The firm has been honored as a Top Woman-Owned Business and one of the Best Law Firms. Additionally, Ms. Watson has been recognized as a Pennsylvania Super Lawyer and a Rising Star.
While her career has been filled with highlights, Ms. Watson takes the most pride in the pro bono work she does through her firm, championing LGBTQ+ rights, and fostering a positive work environment at BKW Family Law. Though hard work and dedication have brought her far in her career, she credits her success to her mentors and founders of the firm, Joni Berner and Margaret Klaw. In the coming years, Ms. Watson intends to foster a reputation as the go-to in family law in her area and expand the arbitration part of the practice.
