Dr. Senior Angulo and her nonprofit cofounder were honored in Portland with the Phenomenal Mission Award during the 7th Annual International Women's Day Celebration in March 2024.

Dr. Senior Angulo has established herself as a respected figure in nutrition education, holding multiple roles that highlight her expertise and dedication to community health and playing a pivotal role in educating families on dietary practices and food resource management. As a program manager at Oregon State University, she has been responsible for the Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) since 2017. She has been a member of the state leadership team for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program- Education (SNAP-Ed) since 2021. Dr. Senior Angulo's career at Oregon State University began in 2016 as the SNAP-Ed program coordinator in Clatsop County, a role she upheld for five years before transitioning to her current leadership role.
In addition to her contributions to the university, Dr. Senior Angulo owns Dr. J Senior Consulting LLC, where she provides specialized English and Spanish translation services and cultural competency consulting to higher education, government, and nonprofit organizations. As such, she strives to foster communication and understanding. Dr. Senior Angulo has also been a Zumba fitness instructor since 2013, which complements her passion for promoting healthy lifestyles.
As a dedicated health equity advocate, Dr. Senior Angulo co-founded a nonprofit organization in 2021 and currently serves as its deputy director. Based in Oregon, My Hair My Health PDX strives to cultivate a nurturing environment for Black women and their families, emphasizing holistic well-being and community connections. Aside from this venture, Dr. Senior Angulo is a former board director and volunteer who provides consulting services for a local food systems nonprofit.
Dr. Senior Angulo prepared for her career by achieving a bachelor's degree in human nutrition from the Universidad de Costa Rica in 2009, a licentiate degree in 2010, and a Doctor of Philosophy in food technology and nutrition education from Clemson University in 2015. During her schooling, she was a graduate teaching assistant and an international student ambassador at Clemson University between 2011 and 2015. Besides her degrees, Dr. Senior Angulo received her project management professional certification (PMP®) from the Project Management Institute in 2022. As a dedicated professional, Dr. Senior Angulo is an active member of the Zumba Instructor Network and the Project Management Institute.
