Leveraging his former expertise, Mr. Czarnecki was responsible for the operations and growth of Family Promise of Porter County, a homeless shelter in northwest Indiana, where his leadership was instrumental in advancing its mission.
Before pivoting into this sector, Mr. Czarnecki garnered success in the nonprofit sector as the talent and community engagement specialist at the YMCA of Portage Township Inc. from 2022 to 2023. He also served as the assistant executive director of engagement and development at Neighbors' Educational Opportunities in 2022 after initially joining the organization as an enrollment and career coach in 2021. During an earlier stage of his career, Mr. Czarnecki was active in municipal government as the city manager for the City of Hastings from 2019 to 2021 and as the community development director between 2017 and 2019. Moreover, he amassed over 25 years of expertise in public education, beginning as a teacher for the Kentwood Public Schools from 1991 to 1993, Kelloggsville Public Schools between 1993 and 2017, and Davenport University as an adjunct professor of the Master of Urban Education program from 2016 to 2017. Mr. Czarnecki also lent his expertise to Holy Family Parish as the high school faith formation coordinator between 2013 and 2014.
Looking toward the future, Mr. Czarnecki envisions Gabriel's Horn Homeless Shelter for Women and Children continuing its legacy of service. Apart from his primary career goals at Gabriel's Horn, Mr. Czarnecki lends his voice to the airwaves as a part-time news anchor, disc jockey, and radio voice talent with Adams Radio Group-Northern Indiana since 2022.
Outside of his professional endeavors, Mr. Czarnecki has been affiliated with the Shirley Heinze Land Trust, a nonprofit organization devoted to preserving and restoring significant natural areas throughout northwestern Indiana.
Building upon his academic foundation, Mr. Czarnecki earned a Bachelor of Arts in education from Alma College in 1991 and a Master of Arts in educational leadership from Grand Valley State University in 2001. Among his many achievements, he is particularly proud of being a finalist for the Michigan Teacher of the Year award in 2011, underscoring his commitment to excellence in education.
