Mr. Hyde is a distinguished Professor in fine arts, having dedicated over five decades to painting and drawing. In 1972 he began teaching at Greenfield Community College in Greenfield, Massachusetts, and also began serving as Chair of the department with eight full-time and several part-time faculty members, showcasing his leadership and dedication as professor in the institution. Aside from his commitments at the community college, for many years, Mr. Hyde also served as visiting professor at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, bringing his extensive experience and passion for art to students at one of the state's premier institutions. He also garnered success by enriching the academic community at the Massachusetts College of Art as an adjunct professor from 2006 to 2009.
In addition to his academic roles, Mr. Hyde has been an active artist since 1960 under the professional banner Budge Hyde. His drawing and painting expertise is recognized in educational settings and celebrated in galleries and collections in New York City and Massachusetts where his work is displayed. Mr. Hyde has notably accumulated approximately 600 pieces of art in his studio, including numerous series. The level of mastery he has achieved in his art form is a testament to his unwavering commitment to creating and exploring visual expression.
Looking ahead, Mr. Hyde aims to exhibit his paintings more broadly, sharing the fruits of his lifelong dedication to art with a broader audience. Outside the classroom and studio, Mr. Hyde has been involved in writing. He authored a book titled "Theater of the Absurd," (plays from the 50's and 60's) that represents existential thought and features over 25 paintings in a full-scale 40-page catalog. Mr. Hyde is involved in co-writing a second book referencing a poet and a painter.
As a dedicated civic leader, Mr. Hyde honorably served his country in the U.S. Army from 1957 to 1964. He has also generously donated to various organizations and causes, such as the YMCA, Doctors Without Borders, and Planned Parenthood Federation of America Inc.
Building upon his professional accomplishments, Mr. Hyde's educational background includes a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Utah in 1964 and a Master of Fine Arts from the University of Cincinnati & Art Academy of Cincinnati in 1968.
Mr. Hyde attributes much of his success to his wife's unwavering support and sincere passion for teaching, which have been the cornerstones of his personal and professional life.
