Ms. Smith's progression as a higher education professional began with her role as the assistant director of civic engagement at the University of Rochester in 2009. She accepted a concurrent position as the interim assistant director of student activities at the same institutions in 2010, then continued her career in the distinguished position of admissions counselor for the State University of New York College at Oswego from 2011 to 2014. Subsequently, Ms. Smith excelled as the assistant director of admissions at Monroe Community College from 2014 to 2019.
A deep commitment to professional growth is reflected in Ms. Smith's active participation in industry-related organizations. Ms. Smith has been a member of the New York State Association for College Admission Counseling since 2015 and served on the Diversity Committee for State University of New York College Admissions Professionals since 2013. Her involvement extends to SUNYCAP since 2011 and includes past memberships with the American Association for Women in Community Colleges and Monroe Community College's Diversity Council.
Exceptional academic accomplishments have proven vital to Ms. Smith's advancement. She earned a Master of Science in higher education from the University of Rochester and a Bachelor of Arts in public relations from the State University of New York at Oswego. In addition, Ms. Smith was recognized as a fellow of the Hispanic Leadership Institute and earned certification through the SUNY SAIL Institute in 2022.
In recognition of her professional excellence and leadership potential, Ms. Smith has accepted numerous accolades including being named among the "40 Under 40" by both the Rochester Business Journal and the American Association for Women in Community Colleges.
