HARRISBURG, PA, April 11, 2024 /24-7PressRelease/ -- David M. Sanko has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Mr. Sanko is the executive director of the Pennsylvania State Association of Township Supervisors (PSATS), a role that requires him to be available 24 hours a day, every day of the year. Representing approximately 95% of the state's land mass, comprising all the townships, the association's primary goal is to provide local elected officials with resources and tools to improve their performance, including best practices, publications, training, and education. Moreover, PSATS Trustees offer health, life, and disability insurance, as well as retirement plans for municipal officials statewide and continuously improving services for government officials.
As part of Mr. Sanko's requirements, he oversees 30 employees to ensure ongoing success. He is also active with its government affairs lobbying group, reports and collaborates with the board of directors, which includes 13 elected officials, and attends events, annual conferences, and training sessions for elected officials. Among other involvement, Mr. Sanko has been active with PSATS newly-formed nonprofit foundation, which raises funds for scholarships to support the education they provide. Looking toward the future, he aims to enhance the quality of local government services by helping those who work in government.
Having a long career in public service, Sanko began his career as chief of staff for the PA Senate Majority Leader and later for the Lt. Governor as well as Governor of Pennsylvania. Before joining PSATS, he was the chief operating officer for the County of Bucks in Pennsylvania from 2005 to 2010. Mr. Sanko also garnered success as the director of the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Association (PEMA) between 2003 and 2005. PEMA is notably an independent cabinet-level agency tasked with the response to, preparedness for, recovery from, and the mitigation or prevention of disasters and other emergencies.
Outside of his primary career objectives, Mr. Sanko was a trustee at his alma mater, East Stroudsburg University (ESU), from 1996 to 2004. He notably graduated from the university in 1981 with a bachelor's degree in political science. Mr. Sanko is also active in his professional community as a member of the Pennsylvania Society for Association Excellence and as the secretary-treasurer and past president of the National Association of Towns and Townships.
