Dr. Collins has had a distinguished career in supply chain optimization and environmental sustainability, marked most recently by his tenure as Dean Emeritus of the MBA program at Presidio Graduate School in San Francisco since 2021. He has been pivotal in shaping the institution's direction and impact, serving as Dean from 2013 to 2015 and co-founding the school's highly successful Experiential Learning Program in 2006. He taught his signature Sustainable Operations and Supply Chain Management course from the school's founding to 2021 and continues in guiding the school as a member of its Faculty Council.

Dr. Collins was also a co-designer and instructor for an executive certificate program in managing sustainability at Fairleigh Dickinson University in Madison, New Jersey in 2009-10, and lectured in Bainbridge Graduate Institute's MBA Program from 2003 to 2005. Prior to joining Presidio, Dr. Collins was a senior manager at Aspen Technology from 1998 to 2002, directing AspenTech's Strategic Planning Practice, which provided strategic planning optimization consulting services to senior executives. As a senior consultant at Chesapeake Decision Sciences from 1985 to 1998, he implemented supply chain optimization capabilities in automobile, semiconductor, chemicals and carpet manufacturing industries. Earlier in his career, he worked as an operations research analyst at Exxon Mobil Corporation (1980-85), where he developed a number of significant projects, including a large-scale model of the world coal market.
Dr. Collins has co-authored published works in supply chain design and operation, sustainable management curriculum design, the practice of sustainable business through a cultural evolution lens, and on reclaiming values and vision in management education. He is president of the Collins Educational Foundation, which he established in 1999 to lead humanity's efforts to live sustainably on Earth. The foundation has sponsored a number of landmark conferences and published a number of seminal books. Looking ahead, Dr. Collins is committed to identifying and engaging with opportunities that significantly improve the human condition and ensure the sustainability of life on our planet.
Dr. Collins' career path was largely set by his active duty service in the U.S. Air Force. Dr. Collins studied at Cornell University, completing a Bachelor of Science in engineering physics in 1968 and a Doctor of Philosophy in operations research in 1973. This education has propelled him forward and laid the foundation for his professional achievements.
As part of his commitment to his profession, Dr. Collins is a member of the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences, where he served on its meetings committee from 2000 to 2008.
