She also contributed her skills as a Licensing Specialist, Regional Data Specialist, and Operations Review Specialist for the Florida Department of Children and Families between 2008 and 2016. Dr. Phillips' dedication to child welfare began as a dependency case manager and licensing counselor in 2002 in Miami, Florida. Dr. Phillips' professional affiliations include memberships in Jamaican Women of Florida, the Greater Fort Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce, and the Miami-Dade Chamber of Commerce, which have furthered her engagement with community initiatives and industry developments.
Dr. Phillips' academic background is equally impressive, having earned a Doctor of Philosophy in Family Therapy and a Master of Public Administration from Nova Southeastern University, as well as a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Florida Memorial University. She is a Licensed Marriage and Family therapist by the State of Florida Department of Health, a Certified Telehealth Practitioner by the Florida Certification Board and a Certified County Mediator by the Florida Supreme Court. Furthermore, she holds a Women's Entrepreneurship Certification from Cornell University, a Child Welfare Certification from the Florida Certification Board, and a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt. She is also a certified Emotionally Focused Therapist through ICEEFT. Dr. Phillips has also been recognized academically as a member of the National Honor Society for Psychology and Delta Kappa Omicron (honor society for Marriage and Family Therapy); underscoring her commitment to excellence within her disciplines. The foundation of her success can be traced back to her Jamaican upbringing, where hard work and education were paramount values instilled by her parents Carrol and Luke Phillips.
