Her tenure at UCF also included roles as a postdoctoral associate from 2014 to 2016 and a research assistant from 2008 to 2013, having initially joined as a graduate teaching assistant in 2007.
Before her involvement with the UCF, Dr. Petrilli held the position of biochemist in nuclear medicine at INVAP from 1987 to 1990. She began her journey in the field as a research and teaching assistant at Universidad de Buenos Aires from 1983 to 1987.
Throughout her illustrious career, Dr. Petrilli has earned recognition for her dedication and contributions to biomedical sciences, particularly her groundbreaking work on neurofibromatosis type 2. Her efforts include testing multiple potential treatment candidates for vestibular schwannomas and creating human cell lines that have greatly advanced drug recovery efforts for the disease.
Dr. Petrilli's educational background has provided a solid foundation for her professional achievements. She earned a master's degree in biomedical sciences from UCF in 2010, followed by a PhD in biomedical sciences from the same institution in 2013. Prior to her instruction in the U.S., she earned a master's degree in biochemistry from Universidad de Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 1987.
Continuing her pursuit of knowledge in the field, Dr. Petrilli acquired certifications in biomedical research basics and completed the CITI Good Clinical Practice course through the CITI Program in 2024. Additionally, she completed coursework in interpersonal communication through LinkedIn in 2021 and obtained a foundation in project management from Lynda.com in 2017.
