Due to her vast breadth of knowledge, she is also an adjunct professor at Columbia University and Rutgers University. Additionally, in late 2023, she established Embrace Your Strength, PLLC, to provide therapy, supervision, and consulting services.
Previously, she worked for Housing Works as a quality assurance specialist, director, and program director of outpatient substance use services. Over the years, Ms. Smith also worked as an adjunct professor at Simmons University and Fordham University and leveraged her expertise as a public speaker at various conferences and panels.
Ms. Smith also gained valuable expertise in social work and the mental health industry as a supervising social worker in the Mental Health Service Corps, supervising depression care manager and social worker for Housing Works, and various other positions with such companies as the Guidance Center of Brooklyn and the Psychiatric Institute of Washington. A Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Ms. Smith earned a Bachelor of Arts in psychology with a minor in conflict analysis and resolution from George Mason University and a Master of Social Work in mental health from Howard University. This experience has contributed to Ms. Smith's ability to develop and facilitate trainings that further education and advancement through the field.
Driven to remain abreast of changes in the field, Ms. Smith is a member of the National Association of Social Workers and serves on the board at Mercy University's Women in Leadership program. Outside of her work, she also dedicates herself to her community by volunteering with Planned Parenthood and various nonprofits supporting local and national causes. While her career has been filled with highlights, she takes the most pride in becoming a director of social work before age 30. Though hard work and dedication have brought her far in her career, she credits her success to her passion, ambition, and support from family and friends. Looking ahead, Ms. Smith aims to grow her business and live abroad.
