Mr. Ziomek serves as the Branch Chief, Scientific and Regulatory Education Branch (SREB) Center for Drug Evaluation and Research (CDER) within the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), a role he has held since 2023. In this capacity, he is responsible for ensuring that over 5,000 employees within the Center possess the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform their duties effectively, particularly concerning new drug reviews and processes. Prior to this appointment, Mr. Ziomek was the Hyperion project lead at General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT) in Woodlawn, Maryland, from 2017 to 2023. There, he played a pivotal role Modernizing the 1.3 Trillion dollar budget processes within the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).
Before his Role at GDIT, Mr. Ziomek was the communications manager at the Indian Health Service (IHS) with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PWC) from 2015 to 2017 in Rockville, Maryland. His responsibilities included overseeing various communications strategies and initiatives in relation to Financial Management. He was also the senior business operations manager of the Maryland Health Benefit Exchange at Navigator Management Partners in Baltimore between 2012 and 2015. In this role, Mr. Ziomek was instrumental in optimizing operations and contributing to the success of the Maryland Healthcare Exchange Project after an initial setback.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Mr. Ziomek enjoys coaching his children's sports teams. His passion for mentorship parallels his professional commitment to education and development within his field. Mr. Ziomek has also been active with the World Wildlife Fund and the Sierra Club.
Mr. Ziomek's career achievements are founded on his solid educational background. He obtained a bachelor's degree in sociology/criminal justice and a master's degree in interactive technology from Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania. Additional educational pursuits to his credit include an Executive Leadership Certificate from Yale University. The knowledge and skills acquired through his academic pursuits have been integral to Mr. Ziomek's professional success.
